Chi Gamma Gamma Shows Uplift to the Community

Chi Gamma Gamma Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. once again shows some uplift to the community during the Relay for Life held on May 11th and 12th 2007. The Relay for Life of Cobb County, a part of the American Cancer Society, is an overnight event that is filled with fundraising, good food, cards, dominos, and various games. Although all of these activities help make this night enjoyable, the highlight of the evening is the relay walk that occurs through out the night to help increase cancer awareness in the community.

Team OMEGA’S presence is known and recognized throughout the American Cancer Society Community in Cobb County, Georgia. Approximately 40 brothers from the Chapter participated in one manner or another in this event. However, 20 committed brothers stepped up to the plate to raise money for this cause. Chi Gamma Gamma Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. partnered with the Deltas of the Roswell-Marietta Chapter for the evening. It has been Omega vs. Delta for bragging rights over the last several years of who could raise the most money. The Delta’s won the right to brag by a very small margin in 2006. The Ques blew it wide open this year after exceeding our goal of $9,000 to a record setting $13,000. A lot of dedication and hard work was out into the planning, organizing, and carrying out of this annual event. Omega brothers put in an excess of 550 man hours for this worthwhile cause. The brothers of Chi Gamma Gamma are determined to help make a difference in the battle against this deadly disease called cancer.

Chi Gamma Gamma Chapter, also known as “The Elite of the Elite,” continue to serve mankind in any manner possible. The Record Setting Challenge has put Omegas among the leaders for this cause. This is just another example of the commitment that the brothers of Chi Gamma Gamma have established in setting the pace for others to follow.
