Omega’s Grand Chaplain visited Atlanta on April 30th, 2006

On April 30, 2006 Chi Gamma Gamma joined with fellow Omegas and men from Alpha Phi Alpha, Kappa Alpha Psi and Phi Beta Sigma fraternities (collectively know as the ‘OAKS’ organization) from across metropolitan Atlanta to attend Allen Temple A.M.E. Church for their ‘Brotherhood Day’ celebration. The speaker for this service was Omega’s own Grand Chaplain, Brother Reverend Dr. Farrell Jackson Duncombe.

Brother Duncombe referenced Mark 5:8-20 as he delivered a powerful message on the day’s theme: Brothers Promoting Unity: One God, One Kinship. Men from Allen’s OAKS Chorus as well as visiting brothers joined to form a Male Chorus that rendered musical selections that included Unity (Psalm 133). Featured soloist was Omega’s own, Brother Henry Porter. But the culmination of the worship experience came when five young men from the local community came to the altar and gave their lives to Christ! Allen Temple has adopted five schools in the area and while the OAKS organization is still developing its agenda, they look to partner in this initiative.

A reception was held after the service in the church’s annex where all of the fraternities’ shields were displayed as a backdrop. It was there that brothers had an opportunity to fellowship with each other, our Grand Chaplain, sorority members and general church members present. (Reported by Bro Randolph Merriweather)
