Members of Chi Gamma Gamma (Marietta, GA) Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. Assist ‘In The Meantime Ministries’
Rev. Donald Moore of “In The Meantime Ministries,” has organized an outreach program for the homeless called Feed the Homeless, located at the old Turner Chapel AME Church in Cobb County Georgia. This outreach program serves to nourish the body and the spirit of those in the community who are in need. Rev. Moore’s positive contributions to the Cobb County community led to his recognition by Chi Gamma Gamma as their 2007 Citizen of the Year.
Volunteers from four local organizations, including Chi Gamma Gamma (Marietta, GA) Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, each host one Thursday a month at In the Meantime Ministries. Participation in the effort actually requires a two day commitment. On Wednesdays volunteers pick up food and supplies from Rev. Moore’s Food Pantry, then on Thursdays, the volunteers set up the facility, prepare, serve, and cleanup from the night’s meal. Before the meal is served, the word of God is delivered by various local ministers.
Chi Gamma Gamma members have provided service to the Feed the Homeless program on occasion, however, on Thursday June 26, 2008 The 12 Disciples of Perseverance (the Spring 2008 line of Chi Gamma Gamma Chapter) led the charge to feed nearly 45 homeless and/or needy men, women , and children. Since then, the 12 Disciples of Perseverance have adopted the Feed the Homeless project as their line project and continue to lead the charge on the last Thursday of the month.
