CHI GAMMA GAMMA ANNOUNCES THE WINNERS OF OUR 2007 SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS


Chi Gamma Gamma Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity announces the winners of its annual Scholarship Program. The total of Scholarships awarded this year is $8500.00. This amount includes monies for the Bruce Myers Scholarship. This scholarship has been awarded to a young man who was abandoned by his parents at an early age, Anthony Collins. Anthony grew up in foster homes and a special home for teenagers. Through it all he finished high school, and entered Fort Valley State University. He has successfully completed his Freshman year. This is the second year he has been awarded this Scholarship. Fort Valley State is also the school that Bro Bruce Myers and his wife Ruby attended.

Bro Herb Shannon and Bro Stephen Smith interviewed three candidates for scholarship, on Thursday, July 26th. They were all very impressive young men. The committee recommended, and the chapter approved, that all three be awarded scholarships. Listed below are the names of the young men, some of their academic achievements and the school they are planning to attend:

1. Alfredo Rosa II (South Cobb High) - Emory University
• 4.303 GPA - 1570 SAT
• Honors Program
• Major in Finance (Ultimate goal Business Law)
• God Mother is a Delta in the Marietta-Roswell Chapter

2. Trevor Burton (Temple High, Villa Rica) - Morehouse
• 4.295 GPA - 1330 SAT
• Honors Program
• Major in English (Ultimate goal Lawyer)
• Participated in Relay for Life

3. Eugene Daniel (Marietta High) - Elon University
• 3.82 GPA - 1270 SAT
• Honors Program
• Ultimate goal is to become a Pastor
